Decades of experience

Our engineers have literally decades of experience in this field. Engineers are trained in battery technology and equipped with all the specialist test equipment and knowledge required to maintain and repair all makes of equipment. This really is one of our strengths – manufacturers are usually only capable of maintaining their own brand of equipment.

Equipment from different manufacturers

Many of the sites looked after by Exel have equipment from several different manufacturers. Over the years we have worked on almost everything you can come across in terms of standby battery equipment. We take pride in our versatility in this area. We have worked on sites as diverse as power stations, pharmaceutical and fertiliser plants, British Steel and government sites. Although the more day-to-day work is on sites such as hotels, universities, retail stores, hospitals and local authority premises.

We currently have maintenance contracts for several sites with 30+ central battery units, each from a variety of manufacturers. It is all in a day’s work for us.

Is your battery system being tested correctly by an expert?

By virtue of training and experience, our engineers can correctly test your battery system, and have the expertise to interpret the results properly. It is important to have a full understanding of how a system is supposed to operate in order to properly test it and know it is doing what it is supposed to do. Failing the mains and seeing if the lights work is not sufficient.

Would you accept it if a mechanic drove your car around the block and said, ‘It seems to be working ok’.
Then charged you for a full service?

By using specialist test equipment, including data logging software, accurate and meaningful reports are produced to demonstrate to the client what has been done, and if any problems were identified.

For example, all duration tests are data logged. The result is time and date stamped from the test PC. The time/date is tamper-proof so a 3 hour test actually is a 3 hour test, the logged graph being the proof. In addition, the graph shows if the test was a pass, a failure, or if any cell failures occurred (please see the sample test results graph).
